Gunupur:(Ao Bureau):-Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences of GIET University, Gunupur is organising a two days National seminar in online mode on “Recent Advances in BioScience and Biotechnology” dated 26th – 27th August 2022. In the inaugural function of the seminar the chief guest was Dr N K Dhal, Chief scientist, Environmental Science Division, CSIR- IMMT, Bhubaneswar. He said that conservation of the environment is very important today as it is deteriorating rapidly for the survival of human society. Ecosystem balancing can be done with application of advanced biotechnological tools – he added. Vice chancellor of the University Prof Goutam Ghosh emphasised on the translational research and start-ups for development of the nation. Dr. NVJ Rao, Registrar of the university told about the journey of the GIET University since its inception and encouraged the faculties to organise such a type of programme in future. Dean (Aca.) Dr AVL Sharma explained on the recent development of few domains of Biotechnology. Dean (SOET) Dr. A B Srinivas Rao said that such a programme will encourage the students to show their talent and also helpful for them to ventilate their ideas. At the beginning of the function Dr. Manoja Das , HOD Biotechnology presented the welcome address. The introduction of speakers was given by Dr. Trarini Charan Behera. Dr. Dipitikanta Acharya, the convenor of the seminar proposed the vote of thanks. The inaugural function was attended by all the faculties of the department along with all the students. The programme will be continued for coming two days. There are six keynote speakers in four technical sessions about 34 research papers shall be presented by the participant.
