Tom Moody to part ways with Sri Lanka Cricket Board

Colombo, 19/9: In a recent development, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Tom Moody have decided to part ways just one-and-a-half years into his three-year deal. While the Aussie steps down as SLC’s high-profile Director of Cricket, Mahela Jayawardene will continue as the consultant coach despite the former Sri Lanka skipper accepting a broader responsibility with IPL franchise Mumbai Indians earlier this week.

Moody was hired for a three-year stint by a Technical Advisory Committee which was led by Aravinda de Silva at the start of March last year. He had a wide purview, spanning the women’s and men’s game, and domestic and international cricket. The priority of his role was however restructuring Sri Lanka’s domestic cricket, which he did by introducing a five-team provincial tournament on top of the 26-club first-class tournament.
