New Delhi, 29/9: The Supreme Court on Thursday declared that all women, irrespective of their marital status, are entitled to safe and legal abortion till 24 weeks of pregnancy under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act.
A bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud, A S Bopanna and J B Pardiwala also declared that sexual assault by husbands can take form of rape so such victims must also be allowed abortion under the law and rules.
