Cape Town, 23/2: India crashed out of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, after suffering a 5-run loss against holders Australia in the semi-finals at Cape Town’s Newlands Cricket Ground on Thursday.
Opting to bat first, the Aussies put out a 173-run target for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, owing to a brilliant performance with the bat from opener Beth Mooney (54 off 37) and Meg Lanning (49* off 34).
India however failed to achieve the target, following an early collapse to the top-order. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was the top scorer with the bat with her 52 off 34, while Jemimah Rodrigues scored 43 off 24.
Australia will now face either England or South Africa in the final on February 26, where they will look to retain the trophy
