Chhattisgarh: 11 DRG personnel killed in Naxal attack in Dantewada

Dantewada, 26/4: In a shocking development  , 10 District Reserve Guard (DRG)personnel, 1 driver have died in a maoist attack in Chattisgarh. As per reports, the IED was planted by naxals to target a vehicle carrying DRG (District Reserve Guard) personnel near Aranpur in Dantewada district.

 

“10 DRG (District Reserve Guard) personnel and one driver killed in IED attack by naxals in Dantewada,” Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel tweeted.

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister of Chattishgarh and took stock of the Dantewada incident. He said centre will give all possible help to state government.

 

Dantewada superintendent of police Siddhart Tiwari told TOI that DRG personnel were on a search operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of ultras in the forests of Aranpur when the Maoists unleashed the attack. He said that reinforcement was sent to the spot.

 

“10 DRG jawans and one civilian driver lost their lives in the attack. Bodies of all of them are being evacuated from the spot. Senior officers are present there. Search operation is underway,” says IG Bastar, P Sundarraj
