New Delhi, 8/1: The Supreme Court on Monday quashed the Gujarat government’s decision to grant remission to 11 convicts sentenced to life for the gang rape of Bilkis Bano and murder of her family members during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
The top court declared that Gujarat—where the offence took place—was not the competent authority to take such a decision as the state of Maharashtra, where the offenders were tried, was the one who could take this decision
