Bhubaneswar Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Khordha in Collaboration with ICAR-CIFA,
Bhubaneswar & Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd, Bhubaneswar
organized a Training-cum-Exposure visit on “Agriculture & Allied Sectors” for
the farmers of Puri, Nayagarh and Khordha district at the Training Hall of
KVK, Khordha, from 18-20 March,2024. Dr. Pramoda Kumar Sahoo, Director,
ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar graced this occasion as Chief Guest. In his inaugural
address, he applauded the collaborative efforts of IFFCO with KVK-Khordha in
promoting nano-fertilizer and organic fertilizer for enhancing crop productivity
among the farmers of Khordha district of Odisha. He also stressed upon the use
of Nano fertilizers through drones in fish farming and its impact on fish and
human health. Dr. Harapriya Nayak, Sr.Scientist and Head, KVK- Khordha
urged the trainees to adopt organic farming practices for good quality produce,
conserve biodiversity and ecological balance. Sh. S.R. Hati, Asst.Field
Manager, IFFCO,Bhubaneswar welcomed the guest and the participants. He
outlined the objective of the training and IFFCO’s activity based on Biofertiliser
and IFFCO’S speciality Feriliser application in field crops. Dr. P.R.Sahoo,
SMS(Fishery Science) briefed about composite fish culture and fish seed
production. Ms. Sukanti Behera,CTO (Home Science) imparted knowledge on
cultivation and value addition of mushroom. The trainees will acquire
knowledge on enhancement of soil fertility through organic based products,
Integrated Pest and Disease Management, Integrated Nutrient Management,
backyard poultry farming, vegetable cultivation etc. One day exposure visit for
the participants will be organized to ICAR-CIFA for better understanding of the
latest advancements in Fisheries sector. The programme was attended by 40
farmers from Puri, Nayagarh and Khordha district of Odisha.
