Jharsuguda April 01: In response to the dire drinking water shortage plaguing Jharsuguda district during the scorching summer months, Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has embarked on a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavor. Commencing on April 1, 2024, OPGC has initiated the distribution of drinking water via tankers to 72 peripheral villages encompassing nine Gram Panchayats in the vicinity of ITPS. These villages, including Telenpali, Kusraloi, Remanda, and others, are set to benefit from this initiative until July 15.
Facilitating this initiative, OPGC has deployed fifteen tractors accompanied by tankers boasting a capacity of 5000 liters each. These vehicles are tirelessly making 45 trips daily, collectively providing a staggering 2,25,000 liters of potable water to the region’s populace. This concerted effort aims to mitigate the acute water scarcity experienced by the communities, forming part of OPGC’s enduring commitment to enhancing local well-being.
Moreover, this CSR drive supplements the regular pipeline water supply to 17 villages year-round. OPGC’s proactive approach during the summer months ensures sustained access to essential water resources for the communities it serves, embodying its dedication to social welfare and community development.
