Booth Level Officer Dies On Duty In Jajpur’s Binjharpur

Binjharpur: In a tragic incident, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) died suddenly in the line of duty at a polling station in Binjharpur of Jajpur district on Saturday.

Manoranjan Sahoo, a teacher complained of sudden cardiac pain and fell unconscious while he was discharging duty at booth No 157 at Oleichandanpur in Jajpur.

He was immediately rushed to Binjharpur Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead, according to an official.

A fellow BLO, Manoj Kumar Mahalik engaged at booth No 156, said Sahoo complained of nausea and vomiting in the morning. He also had mild chest pain. He was taken to the nearby Binjharpur health centre. After examination, doctors said that he was no more, he added.

Sahoo was a teacher at Harsinghpur Primary School teacher.

“When he was taken to the hospital, we all attended to him and examined him. Unfortunately, he was received dead. The exact reason of death can only be ascertained after post-mortem,” said Hrudananda Das, doctor at Binjharpur hospital.

Sahoo was a diabetic patient, according to his family members.
