Bhubaneswar,July 26, 2024:Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer, was presented with six awards at the eighth edition of Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) National Energy Efficiency Circle Competition held in Chandigarh recently. The company was rewarded for its commitment to sustainable development and efficient use of energy resources at both its manufacturing units in Hisar, Haryana and Jajpur, Odisha.
Jindal Stainless’ Hisar unit won in the‘Best Case Study on Low Carbon and Carbon Neutral Initiatives’, ‘Best Energy Efficiency Case Study’, ‘Innovation in Energy Efficiency’, and ‘Effective Implementation of ISO 50001: Energy Management System’ categories. The Jajpur unit won the‘Best Energy Efficiency Organisation’ and‘Best Implementation of ISO 50001 (EnMS System)’awards. The CII Competition witnessed participation from top-tier organisations across diverse sectors in the country, including metals and cement.

Over the past seven editions,the CII National Energy Efficiency Circle Competition has witnessed participation of over 4000 professionals from more than 1600organisations. This event has showcased over 1,000 cutting-edge green technologies and solutions, with companies demonstrating up to a 20-25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption over the last 6 to 7 years.
These accolades underscore Jindal Stainless’ dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and adopting sustainable practices.The company plans to achieve Net Zero by 2050 and has already reduced 2.8 lakh tonnesof CO2in the last three fiscals. It also aims to reduce carbon emission intensity by 50%, well before FY35. Moreover, Jindal Stainless targets to invest INR 700 crores in various sustainability projects aimed at reducing 1.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year.
