On 23 August 2023, India achieved a historic milestone when the Chandrayaan-3 lander successfully completed a soft landing on the Moon. This remarkable accomplishment made India the 4th country to accomplish this feat and the 1st to land on the lunar South Pole. In recognition of this extraordinary achievement, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has declared August 23 as National Space Day.
Accordingly National Space Day with the theme “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga” to honour and take pride in our collective achievements was organised by Paradip Port Authority.
Paradip Port, as a part of celebration of National Space Day, organised series of activities. Drawing & Essay writing competitions were held among local school students, where they dove into creativity and explored the cosmos. A fancy dress competition on space theme was conducted among the kids of ‘V’ point KG school. PPA Secretary, Shri U.R Mohan Raju encouraged the enthusiastic students and awarded them with prizes and certificates.
On the occasion of National Space Day, students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Paradip port enthusiastically participated in various forms of activities. There were speeches by various students stating the importance of the day. Power point was shown encasing the future course of action of ISRO. Models were showcased of CHANDRAYAAN-3 and various students have brought the chart paper by doing the diagrams of the space day.
