Rayagada/Kalahandi: Baphlimali Bauxite Mine of Utkal Alumina, a subsidiary of Hindalco
Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group, has successfully conducted a series of impactful
events as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign aimed at promoting cleanliness and
hygiene in the community.
On September 18, 2024, the campaign launched at Maikanch Govt. High School and
Andrakanch Govt. Primary School, featuring engaging drawing and essay competitions for
over 40 enthusiastic students. The theme, “The Role of Students Towards a Clean India,”
inspired creative expressions and emphasized the importance of cleanliness in everyday life.
Following this, a significant Cleanliness Drive was held on September 20, 2024, at the
Baphlimali Bauxite Mine premises. Employees, including contractual staff, participated
wholeheartedly in cleaning efforts and took the Swachhata Pledge to uphold cleanliness in
their work and community environments. A Swachhata Abhiyan with ICDS Kashipur
involved 55 Anganwadi workers and health officials discussing the vital link between
hygiene and health.
Most recently, on September 27, 2024, a comprehensive event in Hatikaman Village
combined a cleanliness drive, health awareness program, and mobile health checkup.
Participants included employees, villagers, and a medical team, who collectively cleaned
public spaces and engaged in discussions about hygiene practices, waste management, and
health.
These initiatives not only fostered a cleaner environment but also empowered the local
community to take ownership of their surroundings. Feedback from participants has been
overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for more such events in the future.
Baphlimali Bauxite Mine remains committed to the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign,
reinforcing the vital message that cleanliness is essential for a healthy life and community
well-being.
