KHURDA ROAD DIVISION OBSERVED “SWACHH BHARAT DIWAS”

Homage paid to Mahatma Gandhi ji on his Birth Anniversary.

Remembering the Father of our nation “Mahatma Gandhi ji” on his Birth anniversary and his
vision towards a clean India, Khurda Road division observed the “Swachh Bharat Diwas” at
Khurda Road Railway station. Shri HS.Bajwa, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road, Smt
Gursimran Kaur, President, President, East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organization
(ECoRWWO), Khurda Road, Branch officers and other members of ECORWWO, paid floral
tributes to the photograph of Mahatma Gandhi.

The observance of Swachh Bharat Diwas is a part of the ongoing “Swachhta Pakhwada”,
which is a fortnight-long Swachhata campaign launched from 1st to 15th October 2024, with
focus on ensuring cleanliness across Railway Stations, trains, offices, canteens, Food stalls, and
Railway residential colonies. Earlier, from 14th September to 1st October 2024, the division has
celebrated Swachhata Hi Seva under the theme of "Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskaar
Swachhata."

During the Observance of Swachh Bharat Diwas, Shri HS.Bajwa, DRM, Khurda Road and Smt
Gursimran Kaur, President, ECoRWWO distributed prizes to the school children who were
participated in the various competitions conducted during Swachhata Hi seva campaign. The
Housekeeping staff were felicitated for their day and night efforts to keep the Railway premises
clean.

Later, Shri HS.Bajwa, Smt Gursimran Kaur, ECORWWO members, officers, staff and Scout-
guide children went on an awareness Rally at Khurda Road Railway station with the slogans of
cleanliness. With an aim to encourage the disuse of plastic bags, cotton bags were distributed
to the vendors and passengers at the Railway station.

A Cleanliness drive has been undertaken at the Parking area of Khurda Road Railway station by
all the officers and ECoRWWO members sending a message of Jan Bhagidari, reflecting the
division’s commitment to public welfare and environmental sustainability.
Shri Lingaraj Tripathy, Sr.Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Khurda Road and Smt Swadhinata
Das, Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Coaching & Housekeeping) co-coordinated the
programmes of Swachh Bharat Diwas.
