Diarrhea turning into epidemic! 5 dead in a week, 31 infected in Durgapanga of Kandhamal,

Baliguda: Diarrhea is taking the form of an epidemic in Durgapanga village in Kandhamal district of Odisha. So far 5 people have lost their lives within a week while more than 31 people have been infected with the disease.As per reports, officially, 5 people have died while privately 12 people are said to have died due to diarrhoea. Diarrhea is spreading in Durgapanga panchayat of Kotgarh block bordering Kandhamal and Rayagada district.The disease has also spread to villages such as Kanibaru, Sindhibali, Badipanga, Bhaluguda and Dimili. At present, 5 patients are being treated in Baliguda sub-divisional hospital while more than 31 cases are being treated at the Kotgarh health center.Regarding the incident, 5 teams of the health department have reached the village and are treating the affected people. The medical team is going door to door and collecting samples. Medicines are being provided immediately to those who are infected.The medical team is monitoring the health of the villagers. It is not known what caused the Diarrhea to spread in the village.
