SUBARNAPUR , 16/10— A robbery attempt was made on Tuesday night on Singhijuba-Khairmal road under Binika police station of Subarnapur district on Wednesday. 3 police officers and 3 other accused were injured in the attack by the villagers.The injured were SI Sujata Budek, ASI Trinath Sahu and Constable Gopinath Sahu. Similarly, two minors including the accused Chandrakant Mahanand (18) were also injured. According to information, on Tuesday night Chandrakant Mahanand of Rampur police station area of Subarnapur district and 2 other minors attempted to loot a mobile from a farmer who had gone to arrange water to his farm land on Singhijuba-Khairmal road under Binika police station was doing. At this time, the concerned farmer screamed loudly. Hearing the screams, other farmers around came running. As a result, the accused fled from there and broke into the Anandnagar club house on Singhijuba-Ghat village road. At this time, the people who were following them from behind locked the club house and informed the police. In the Binika-Rampur main road and surrounding areas, theft, dacoity, rahazani etc. anti-social activities have been increasing for a long time. People were afraid to travel alone after evening. The thieves did not care about the police. In the same way, the public also lost faith in the police, for which today people were agitated and attacked.
The police had reached the spot this morning after receiving the news. After seeing the situation at the scene, Rampur called the police. But the local people opposed the arrival of the Rampur police. A platoon of police arrived as the situation was tense. As a result, the villagers became more agitated. The villagers attacked the three accused while taking them out of the locked house. Three accused including SI Sujata Budek, ASI Trinath Sahu and Constable Gopinath Sahu were injured. The police van was also broken by the attack of the angry people.
Finally, the police have brought three accused into their custody from the villagers. After giving first aid to the injured, Binika is interrogating him in the police station. The police have taken action against the villagers on the charge of assault. 11 people from Papi and Kadalipali villages are being detained and interrogated.
