Special preparations at Paradeep Port of Odisha for cyclone DANA, directive issued to finish loading & unloading before evening

Paradeep: Special preparations are being made by the Paradeep Port Authorities keeping in view the impending cyclone DANA. Directives have been issued to finish the cargo transportation and loading work from all the ships at the port berth before this evening.Ships at anchorage have been ordered to anchor in safe places at sea. As of today, it is advised to supply the ships in anchorage with necessary food and essential supplies.While all arrangements have been made for post-storm measures such as cutting trees, clearing roads, instructions have been issued by the Port Authority to protect the cargo in various plots from rain and wind.On the other hand, cyclonic storm DANA has been created in the Bay of Bengal. Deep depression has intensified and a cyclone has been formed. Now it is 670 km away from Paradeep.The cyclonic storm is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over northwest Bay of Bengal by early morning of 24th and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during night of 24th to morning of 25th October, 2024 as a severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph.
