Bhubaneswar 24/10:- Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi took stock of cyclone preparedness in the presence of Minister Revenue and Disaster Management Shri Suresh Pujari, Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar Ahuja and other senior officers at the Office of State Relief Commissioner here tonight at about 11.30 PM.
Later, while briefing the Media the Chief Minister said that the State Machinery was fully geared up in harnessing the resources to ensure a smooth evacuation of the people of the areas likely to be affected. There has been no let off in provision of amenities for a decent and comfortable camp life.
So far, 5 Lakh 84 Thousand 888 persons have been evacuated for safe shelter at 6,008 facilities of accommodation. A total of 292 no of Medical Teams and 155 no of Veterinary Teams have been deployed.
The Chief Minister stated that adequate dry and cooked food, medicines and drinking water were being provided. Further, livestock of 19,476 have been moved to safer places with fodder. No casualty of human being nor of live stock is reported. The Chief Minister was happy to mention that about 1600 women gave birth to their new born out of the 4431 expecting mothers at Maternity Homes (Maa Gruha) and healthcare facilities where they had been brought in last two-days as a preventive measure.
Keeping in view the expected change in curve of the Cyclone over the landmass following landfall, the district administrations of Keonjhar, Angul and Dhenkanal have been put on alert.
The State Government is fully prepared to handle the impact of impending Cyclone, which is expected to cross the coastline between Bhitarkanika and Dhamara in the midnight hours. He also informed about the telephonic discussion, he had with the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister apprising them about the preparedness of his Government to tackle the arsing emergency.
The assurance of all round support by Government of India has bolstered the State’s effort to handle the calamity effectively.
