Parts of Odisha, especially several places across the Kandhamal district are currently engulfed in a thick layer of fog as temperatures slip to this year’s lowest records.While a cold wave has not been widely observed across the state, Kandhamal continues to experience severe winter conditions. The district’s temperature remains below 10 degrees Celsius, with dense fog persisting.Ground reports mentioned that dense fog begins around 9 PM and lasts for about 12 hours until 9 AM, enveloping the entire district in a white blanket-like appearance.As such, the biting cold, combined with the foggy environment, has disrupted daily life in the region. Areas like Daringbadi, often referred to as the “Kashmir of Odisha,” along with Belaghar, Barakhama, Tumudibandh, Kotagad, Balliguda, Raikia, and G. Udayagiri, are experiencing a sharp decline in temperature.On the night of November 25, Daringbadi recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius whereas other places in the district like Phulbani experienced a low of 13 degrees on the same night.
