Jharsuguda, Odisha; 28 th November, 2024: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of
aluminium, observed World Diabetes Day across villages in Jharsuguda, in collaboration
with the District Health Department. Aligned with the theme “Breaking Barriers, Bridging
Gaps”, the health campaign raised awareness about diabetes, its prevention, and the
importance of early detection among the local community.
More than 200 residents of Bhurkamunda took part in the health campaign and underwent
Random Blood Sugar (RBS) testing to assess their health status and identify potential risks.
The free-of-cost testing, along with the consultations, formed the cornerstone of the initiative,
helping people to take proactive steps towards managing their health.
Dr. Dolamani Patel, Head of the Non-Communicable Disease Department, Jharsuguda,
conducted a session that provided valuable insights on diabetes management and lifestyle
modifications. Speaking at the event, she emphasized, “Diabetes is one of the most common
yet pressing public health challenges today. Through initiatives like these, we can empower
communities with the knowledge and tools to manage this condition effectively and improve
their quality of life.”
Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Vedanta Aluminium, spoke about the company’s
