Hemgir Tehsildar Suspended Over Negligence, Corruption Allegations

Sundargarh: The Odisha government suspended Hemgir Tehsildar Lavanyendu Mohanty from his duties due to negligence.Mohanty faced disciplinary action from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department due to allegations of neglect, harassment, corruption, and frequent absences.Of late, Mohanty skipped a crucial monthly revenue meeting chaired by the District Collector without taking the latter’s permission. The tehsildar’s absence from the meeting was considered a serious offence, especially given the meeting’s importance.The suspension order was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, based on a report submitted by the District Collector. Previous allegations against the tehsildar also contributed to the suspension order.Going by the suspension order, Mohanty will be stationed at the Sundargarh Collectorate until further notice and he is prohibited from leaving the district headquarters without permission from the Collector. The tehsildar has also been ordered to immediately hand over responsibilitiesA notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department stated, “A disciplinary proceeding against Sri Lavanyendu Mohanty, OAS-A(JB), Tahasildar, Hemgir, Dist.-Sundargarh, is under consideration. Therefore, the Governor of Odisha, under Rule-12 of OCS (CC&A) Rules, 1962, has placed him under immediate suspension.”
