Robbers attack family with sharp weapons in Bhadrak, 4 including 3 women injured in heist

At least four of a family including three women were injured after armed robbers barged into their house at Napanga village under Bhandaripokhari police limits in Bhadrak district late on Wednesday night and attacked them with sharp weapons before decamping with cash and gold worth lakhs of rupees.According to sources, a group of masked assailants broke into a house at midnight, assaulted the residents, and looted cash and gold ornaments.The robbers used cunning tactics to carry out the attack. After being unable to break open the doors to the house, they allegedly set loose hens and roosters kept in a coop outside. Hearing the commotion, several family members opened the locked doors and stepped outside to check. The robbers then took advantage of the situation, entered the house, and looted jewellery worth about Rs 5 to 6 lakhs, sources stated.The assailants also brandished weapons and injured four people, including three women when they tried to resistthe robbery attempt.Meanwhile, police took note of the matter and launched an investigation but did not offer any additional comments. The armed robbery case in Bhadrak happened just a few days after police busted a dacoity gang in Angul for carrying out similar armed robberies.On Monday, Angul police had nabbed nine members of a gang in connection with a case of armed robbery at a house that was mourning the death of a person. Additionally, a country-made pistol, three machetes, an axe, a knife and several other valuables were seized from them.
