SUBARNAPUR, 21/12 — Special Vigilance Court in Balangir has convicted Mr.Subrata Kumar Behera, the then tehsildar and sub-registrar of Subarnapur district Tarva and now working as Kodinga tehsil of Nabarangpur district. Imprisonment for a 3 year and a fine of 30 thousand rupees. According to the information, Kanhucharan Das, a lawyer of Subarnapur District Tarva Block, Shibatala Gram Panchayat, Ghatkaintara Village, applied for the land registry in his land under Mouza.Tehsildar Mr. Behera demanded 20 thousand rupees for this. On September 9, 2020, Mr. Behera Tarva Tahsildar After taking charge, he misused his position and indulged in corruption. Pradeep Sahu, the land seller, was found to have paid Rs.2 lakh 75 thousand to the Tehsildar for the registry of 11 plots. On 22/09/2020 Pradip deposited Rs. 1 lakh 24 thousand in SBI Account No.-37923406432(Cheque No.- 226303) of Suprabha Behera ( Wife of Subrata Kumar Behera ) on the instructions of Tehsildar Mr. Behera.While depositing lakhs of rupees 05/12/2020 deposited Rs.1 Lakh 24 thousand in the said account (Cheque No.-226308).Both the transactions were through check from Pradeep’s bank account. On 11/2020 sent 1 thousand and twice 20 thousand each l Similarly on 13/10/2020 5000 through Phone- Pay and 5000 through Google -Pay. Mr. Behera was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000. Vigilance seized 40 notes of Rs. 500 from Mr. Behera. Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No. 29/2020 Case under 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 The case was pending in the Vigilance Court.
