Bhubaneswar: In lady constable’s murder case, Lalbag police arrested her husband after he was discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital. He was later forwarded to court on Monday.
Lalbag police have filed a murder case against him under Section 103(1) of the BNS.As per reports, the shocking incident of domestic violence had come to light in Cuttack, where a 27-year-old police constable, Bishnupriya Mallick, was brutally murdered by her husband, Biswajit (35).
The victim, who worked with the Cyber Crime police of Cuttack Urban Police District, suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest, back, head, and face.The incident occurred at their rented house in Sidheswar Sahi, under the Lalbag police limits.According to police, the couple had a strained relationship and had a heated argument over a family dispute, which escalated into violence. In a fit of rage, Biswajit allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times, killing her on the spot.The couple’s four-year-old daughter was asleep in another room during the incident. After committing the crime, Biswajit allegedly locked himself in a room and attempted suicide by consuming rodenticide and slitting his throat.Lalbag police team rushed to the spot, broke open the door, and rescued Biswajit in a critical condition. He was rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. Police arrested him after he recovered completely.
