Uttar Pradesh: Many are feared trapped and over 20 people were injured after a an under-construction roof collapsed at the Kannauj railway station here on Saturday. According to cources, around 24 workers were reportedly trapped under an under-construction roof slab.At least 23 people were rescued from the collapsed structure, according to officials. Out of the 20 injured people three sustained severe injuries and are receiving treatment.The incident took place around 2:39 pm today when an under-construction lintel collapsed during beautification work after the shuttering failed. At least six injured workers were initially rescued taken to a hospital for treatment.Taking cognisance of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure the safe recovery of those trapped inside and their proper medical treatment. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were also deployed at the scene to rescue the trapped workers.The local administration carried out a massive rescue operation in the hopes of bringing the trapped workers to safety. Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) also reached the site.
