Death of worker at ethanol plant

Subarnapur , 14/1—- An accident occurred at Mass Bio Pvt.Ltd.. According to information, Ajaya Mahakur (26) of the Arakhapadar village, who was working there at around 8.30 pm on Sunday, fell into the dryer. As a result, he died on the spot. Later, the local people reached the spot and complained widely against the plant and demanded financial assistance to the families of the deceased employees. According to his complaint, the workers were working unsafely inside the plant without helmets, gloves and other safety equipment and many out state workers had already died. After this incident, while the tension continued here, the families and villagers started preparing to protest in front of the company. After getting the news, Tarva additional tehsildar Diptimayee Bhua, Sonepur SDPO Pratap Chandra Tripathy, Tarva IIC Anita Kido and labour officers arrived to investigate. Also, on behalf of the company manager Yogendra Tomar, deceased 25 lakhs was given as a written promise to pay ex-gratia.After that the movement was withdrawn.According to information, Ajaya Mahakur (26), son of Ghana Mahakur of Arakhapadar village, was working under a contractor in an ethanol factory for the past two years. Police informed that his body fell into pieces while he was working on Sunday evening. And in the presence of the magistrate, the dismembered body of the deceased was removed from the drying machine and handed over to the family members after post-mortem.He lived with his family at his father-in-law’s house in Garamahul for three years. The deceased’s wife Rashmi Mahakur and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Priyanshi are still alive.It seems that the Tarva police have filed a case and are investigating. Report — Ugrasen Karmi.
