Odisha Vigilance apprehends Jajpur Sub-inspector for taking bribe

Jajpur: Odisha Vigilance sleuths caught the Sub-inspector (SI) of Police of Sukinda Police station of Jajpur district for taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. According to information, he was apprehended by the Odisha vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant to help him in a family dispute matter. The accused SI had earlier taken Rs 1000. He further asked the complainant to pay Rs 4000 and threatened to entangle him in a criminal case otherwise. Left with no option, the complainant reported the matter to the Vigilance Authority. Acting on the tip off, Vigilance Officials made the plan and  trapped the accused SI, k today, while taking the demanded bribe money. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused SI and seized. In this connection,  Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.02/2025 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act,  2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Abhay Kumar Nayak, SI, Sukinda PS, Dist-Jajpur.
