Bhubaneswar KIIT University’s star cyclist Swasti Singh made history at the 38th National Games, setting a new national meet record in the 3 km Women Individual Pursuit (Track Cycling) event. The international rider showcased her dominance on the track, storming to victory with a sensational timing of 04:03.255 (NGR) and securing the Gold medal and this is Swasti’s 2nd medal in this National Championship.
Adding to KIIT’s glory, Reziya Devi, another International cyclist from the KIIT university, put up a commendable performance to clinch the bronze medal, marking a double podium finish for KIIT with timing 04.12.370 in this prestigious event.
This achievement marks Swasti Singh’s second medal at the National Games, further establishing her as one of India’s finest track cyclists. Her outstanding performances throughout the year also earned her the prestigious title of Best Track Rider of 2024.
Both medalists expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble Founder of KIIT & KISS, for his unwavering support and encouragement. Swasti Singh, in particular, thanked Prof. Samanta for his continuous motivation, as she was awarded a prize of ₹5 lakhs from Prof. Samanta in recognition of her achievements and to further propel her talent to greater heights.
