Malkangiri: Tightening the noose around the neck of corrupt officials the Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Santanu Mohapatra, the Deputy Director and Project Director of Watershed in Malkangiri district of Odisha for possession of properties disproportionate to his Assets. He was arrested in the DA case while his four accomplices were also arrested. As per reports, based on searches conducted on properties of the tainted official, identified as Santanu Mohapatra, the Deputy Director & Project Director, Watershed, Malkangiri, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets (DA) including 1 multi storeyed building, 4 high value plots, gold approximately 422 grams, fixed deposits over Rs.91 lakhs, cash of Rs. 2 crore, etc, which he could not explain satisfactorily. Following this, he has been placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance and will be forwarded today to the Court for possession of disproportionate assets. Further, 4 accomplices of Mohapatra identified as Mohan Mandal, Asst Agriculture Engineer, Biswajit Mandal, DEO, Amiyakanta Sahu, Contractual Staff amd Alekh Pradhan, a Ppprivate Person have also been placed under arrest for embezzlement of Government money along with Mohapatra. In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS case No.02/2025 has been registered against Santanu Mohapatra, Deputy Director & Project Director, Watershed, Malkangiri.
