Newly wed bride found dead in Odisha’s Rayagada district, family cries foul

Rayagada: A newly wed bride was found dead in Rayagada district of Odisha on Monday. Her father alleged that his daughter has been murdered over dowry demand. The incident took place in the Ganesh Vihar area under Gunupur police station limits in Rayagada district. The deceased woman has been identified as Rashmi Ranjani Badakumar.  She is said to be from the Vidya Nagar area in Paralakhemundi town. She was a postal employee. According to reports, marriage of the woman and Debashish Majhi, a constable, son of Shatar Chandra Majhi of Chandrapur village in Rayagada district had been solemnized on July 3, 2024. About 8 months after the marriage the woman’s body was found last night. The body of the newly wed bride was found suspiciously in a rented house. The death of the woman did not go well with her family. Her father has filed a Police complaint alleging it to be a murder over dowry demand. After getting information Gunupur police reached the spot and started investigation. Further probe of the story is underway.
