President’s rule imposed in Manipur

New Delhi, 13/2: President’s Rule was imposed in ethnic violence-hit Manipur on Thursday, as the ruling BJP failed to arrive at a consensus on the successor of N Biren Singh who quit as Chief Minister four days ago.

The gazette notification imposing President’s Rule, which was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs at 7:16 PM, made it clear that the Manipur Assembly was put under suspended animation, enabling political parties to explore possibilities of forming government.
