Banaka Lagi ritual of Srimandir deities tomorrow, temple to be shut for 5 hours

Puri: On the occasion of Phalguna Krushna Sasthi tomorrow, Banaka Lagi ritual of the Trinity deities will be held on Wednesday. It is a secret ritual and therefore will be done within closed doors. The temple doors will remain shut for the devotees from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm. After the second Bhoga at the Bhoga mandapa gets over the Srimandir will remain closed for the devotees for five hours. However, the devotees can take the blessings of the Parshwa devatas at Srimandir. For the ritual the Jay Bijaya Dwara will remain closed today. The Dattamahapatra servitors will apply colours of natural dyes on the deities after the  Dwiprahar Dhupa (afternoon Dhupa). Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, red, white and black colours made in natural ways will be applied on the deity siblings. After that they will be given a Mahasnan (great bath). Thereafter the darshan of the Lords will be resumed. After the second Bhoga Mandap niti the Jaya Vijaya door will be closed from inside.The Dattamahapatra servitors will enter the doors with the natural dyes. The servitors will go to the Ratna Singhasan and apply colours to Shree Balabhada, Shree Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Chakra raj Sudarshana. After the Banaka Lagi ritual, Maha snan, Sandhya Alati, Sandhya Dhupa, Chandana lagi, Bada singhar besha and Bada Singhara bhoga will be done. This will be followed by Ratri Pahuda.
