Horrific accident: Pickup van cuts off cyclist’s hand, drags it for distance in Odisha’s Balasore district

Jaleswar: In a horrifica accident a pickup van cut off a cyclist’s hand and dragged it for a long distance in Odisha’s Balasore district. The vehicle stopped only after public intervention. The incident took place under Raibania Police station limits. The victim cycle rider has been identified as Purnachandra Mallick of Gurudaspur. As per reports, Purnachandra was returning from the market in his bicycle when a speeding pickup van approached from the rear side and hit him. The hit was so horrendous that one hand of the cyclist was cut off. Not only that the pickup van did not even stopped and travelled about 20 kms with the chopped limb of the victim hanging from the van. Seeing this horrendous scene some people tried to stop the vehicle. However, the driver continued driving speedily. Finally, the locals managed to stop the vehicle and nabbed the driver. At the accident site, the cyclist turned critical after losing his hand. However, the locals rescued him and rushed to the Jaleswar hospital in a critical condition. However as his condition deteriorated he was shifted to Balasore district headquarter hospital.
