Barabati floodlight issue: OCA replies to Odisha Govt’s show-cause notice

Cuttack: Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has reportedly given replies to the Odisha Government’s show-cause notice over the floodlight issue that occurred during 2nd ODI match between India and England earlier this month. While speaking about the OCA’s reply to the State government, newly elected OCA President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty today informed that the association has already given its reply to the show-cause notice wherein we have said that two each generator sets will be made available at each floodlighting tower. It is to be noted here that the Sports and Youth Services Department had on February 10 issued a show-cause notice to OCA and said that — During the 2nd One Day International (ODI) cricket match between India and England on 9th February 2025 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, one flood light was off, and the match was disrupted. This incident led to about 30 minutes suspension of the match, causing inconvenience to players and spectators.  Accordingly, in the said show cause notice the OCA was directed to submit a detailed explanation within 10 days mentioning the cause of the disruption and identify the persons/agencies who were responsible for such lapses and outline the measures taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
