Tigress Ankita delivers cub at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Tigress Ankita reportedly deliversed a cub today morning at the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in Bhubaneswar of Odisha. As per reports, tigress Ankita, aged about 13-year 1 month, delivered a cub on Monday (24-02-2025) morning after 103 days of gestation, sired by Saif. Mating between the pair was observed on 13th November 2024, lasting for one day. With the birth of this cub, the total tiger population at Nandankanan Zoological Park now stands at 28 (16 male:11 female :1 sex undetected). Now the mother and the cub are under CCTV surveillance. Sex of the cub has not yet detected. Ankita was born (13-01-2012) to parents Rishi and Sara at Nandankanan. It has given birth to a total of eight offsprings from three litters. The first litter was born on 12th January 2018, consisting of one male (died after one day) and one female cub (Silky) (1:1:0), while the second litter was born on 17th February 2023, comprising one male (Amit), three female cubs (Shree, Jayashree, Trupti), and one still born (1:3:1). Among her eight offspring, two died and four are currently surviving. Additionally, one female cub (Silky) was transferred to Jaipur Zoo on 17-03-2021, and another female cub (Trupti) was transferred to Alipore Zoo, Kolkata on 27-08-2024.
