Dubai, 4/3: Aided by fighting half-centuries from Steve Smith (73) and Alex Carey (61), Australia made 264 after taking first use of the wicket in their ICC Champions Trophy semifinal against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Mohammed Shami was the pick of Indian bowlers with figures of three for 48 from his allotted quota of 10 overs. The Indian players took the field wearing black armbands in honour of domestic cricket legend Padmakar Shivalkar, who died in Mumbai on Monday.
Australia made two changes from their previous match playing XI, bringing in Cooper Connolly for injured Matthews Short and Tanveer Sangha for Spencer Johnson.
