In a significant step towards inclusivity and social responsibility, NTPC Kaniha, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, distributed various assistive living devices to differently abled individuals and senior citizens of Kaniha Block. The initiative aimed to improve mobility and enhance the quality of life for the beneficiaries. In the special distribution camp organized on 19.03.2025, tricycles, wheelchairs, hand-propelled tricycles, battery-operated tricycles, blind canes, hearing aids, and other essential assistive devices were handed over to around 41 beneficiaries. The event was graced by the presence of Shri A. K. Sehgal, Executive Director, NTPC Kaniha along with other dignitaries, including Shri G. Mohakul, Chief Medical Officer, Shri Manoranjan Panigrahi, AGM (EMD &MTP), Smt. Sujita Rath, AGM (HR) and Shri Jitendra Kumar, Sr Manager (HR). Representatives from Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and other officials from HR and CSR were also present. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sehgal emphasized NTPC’s commitment to social welfare and expressed hope that the assistive devices would significantly improve the mobility, independence, and overall well-being of the beneficiaries. He reiterated NTPC’s dedication to empowering the differently abled and senior citizens through meaningful CSR interventions. The identification of beneficiaries was earlier conducted through a disability assessment camp organized by NTPC Kaniha’s CSR team in collaboration with ALIMCO in the month of February 2025. This camp was held in the presence of experts and the Block Social Welfare Officer from Kaniha, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of beneficiaries. NTPC Kaniha remains steadfast in its commitment to community development and continues to undertake various CSR initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of marginalized and vulnerable groups.
