Wife watching porn and indulging in self-pleasure not enough grounds for divorce: Madras HC

Madurai: In a recent judgement regarding a family proceeding, a man was denied divorce by the Court. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court said that wife watching porn not enough grounds for divorce. According to reports, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court held that the wife watching porn privately and indulging in masturbation or self pleasure is not enough grounds to constitute cruelty to the husband. The Court further dismissed the appeal by the man. The case was heard in the High Court as the man had challenged the family court’s judgment denying him divorce. The two judge bench constituting of Justice GR Swaminathan and Justice R Poornima of the Madurai bench held that if a spouse did not breach any statutory laws in watching pornography and does not does not violate conjugal obligations then it is not cruelty nor enough grounds for divorce. Hence the Court denied the divorce plea and said that it cannot be granted merely on the grounds that the wife watched porn and indulges in masturbation.
