Odisha CM urges people to switch off lights for 1 hour to observe Earth Hour

Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Mohan Majhi urged the people of Odisha to observe ‘Earth Hour’ today for 1 hour from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on March 22. He asked the citizens to switch off lights of homes and offices for 1 hour in order to protect Mother Earth. Taking to his X handle, the CM Majhi said,” ‘Earth Hour’ is being celebrated all over the world with the aim of protecting Mother Earth and reducing energy waste. Let’s celebrate “Earth Hour” by switching off the lights of our homes/offices for one hour from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm tonight. Let’s work to protect nature and the environment.” People across the globe will observe the the event for an hour today as per the decision of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This year the day for Earth has the theme ‘Be Water Wise’ as it coincides with World Water Day. Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres said via an X post, “Every year for Earth Hour, millions of people turn off the lights to illuminate the need for Climate Action. Please join us – switch off your lights on March 22nd at 8:30 p.m. local time. Give an hour to Earth and use your power to push for a better world for us all.”
