Gold jewelry, cash worth Rs 10 lakh looted from businessman’s house in Odisha’s Balasore district

Soro: In a shocking incident, gold jewelry and cash worth more than Rs 10 was looted from the house of a businessman in Balasore district of Odisha yesterday night. The incident took place in the Banagadia village under Bati Panchayat in Simulia Police Station limits at night of Sunday. The victim businessman has been idenfified as Ananda Behera. As per reports, 6 miscreants came on bikes yesterday night to the house of Ananda Behera. They climbed onto the roof of the house from the rear side and entered the house. The miscreants then allegedly attacked Behera’s son Ratikanta with a sharp weapon (Bhujali) and broke the lock of the almirah and looted gold and silver ornaments as well as cash worth over Rs 10 lakh. After committing the crime they fled from the scene. Ratikant was seriously injured in the attack and was first shifted to Simulia hospital and then to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. In another such loot incident in Soro area of Balasore district today in the Markona Bazaar, miscreants broke the lock of a mobile shop and attempted a loot. However, after getting information Police rushed to the spot. As the cops reached the spot they seen 5 youths running away. While the police personnel caught 3 of them two others managed to flee from the scene.
