Cuttack: Good news for the cricket fans especially of Odisha that they would get to witness live T20I match at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Barabati Stadium will host a T20 match between India and South Africa on December 9 (Tuesday), informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today. While announcing the fixtures for Team India (Senior Men) international home season 2025, the BCCI said that during its Tour of India, South Africa will play 5 T20I matches, of which the first T20I will be played at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack of Odisha. After the floodlight failure during the India-England 2nd ODI math at Barabati Stadium on February 9, 2025, which had caused massive outrage, it was speculated that BCCI won’t allot any match to Odisha’s lone international cricket stadium. However, the Indian cricket board’s announcement for T20I match at Barabati Stadium, the cricket lovers along with the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) are extremely happy and exited. Now it is assumed that OCA under its new president Pankaj Lochan Mohanty will make elaborate arrangement to make the international match a grand success.
The four other T20I match between India and South Africa will be played as mentioned bellow:
- 2nd T20I at New Chandigarh on December 11 (Tuesday),
- 3rd T20I at Dharamsala on December 14 (Sunday),
- 4th T20I at Lucknow on December 17 (Wednesday),
- 5th T20I at Ahmedabad on December 19 (Friday)
The visitor will also play two Test Matches. While the first test match of the IDFC First Bank Test series would begin from November 14 at New Delhi, the Guwahati will host the second test from November 22. Similarly, three ODI match will be played between the two nations. The 1st ODI at Ranchi on November 30, 2nd ODI at Raipur on December 3, 3rd ODI at Vizag on December 6. The BCI also informed that India’s home season will commence with the IDFC First Bank Test series against West Indies, starting on 2nd October 2025 in Ahmedabad. The second and final Test of the series will be held in Kolkata from 10th October.
