Fake Police Inspector arrested in Cuttack for duping job aspirants

Cuttack: The Cuttack unit of the Commissionerate Police arrested a fake Police Inspector for duping job aspirants on pretext of securing them different kinds of posts in the police department. The arrested fake Police Inspector has been identified as Gundicha Dalai of Nuapatana village under Tigiria Police station of Cuttack district. Police also seized a Laptop, 5 mobile phones, fake Identity Cards, Police Inspector Uniform, Police Cup, Name Plate Stars and Logo along with Police Inspector rubber stamp and Cheque Books from Dalai’s possessions. According to Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari, a Badambadi PS Case No-127, Dr. 02.04.2025 under sections 318(4)/319(2)/338/336(3)/336(4)/340(2)/204/205 of the BNS was registered after one Jitanshu Sekhar Parida of Jitu Meripur village under Mahanga police station, who is at present working at CNBT Bus Stand, Cuttack filed a complaint against the fake Police Inspector. Parida alleged that the accused fraudulently introduced himself as an Inspector of Police working at the Rural SP Office, Cuttack, and convinced him to pay Rs 1,50,000 for confirmation of job of a Home Guard Post. Parida had recently applied for a Home Guard post, when Dalai approached him, wearing a police uniform with three stars, and showed a forged police identity card to gain his trust. Believing the accused’s claims, the complainant initially paid 210,000 as an advance. However, upon realizing he had been deceived, Parida reported the matter to the police. Acting on the complaint, the police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. Meanwhile, Gundicha Dalai has been forwarded to the court, and further investigation is underway to identify any other victims and gather additional evidence against him.
