OSHA bill to build 75,000 km-long world class roads passed in Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is on track to build 75,000 km-long world class roads in Odisha. The work will be done in a fast track approach to finish the work at the earliest. The State government will establish the Odisha State Highways Authority (OSHA) in line with the Central government’s National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The Odisha State Highways Authority Bill- 2025 has been passed in the Odisha Assembly. The prerequisites like land acquisition, rehabilitation, environment clearance, forest clearance for the construction of state highways will be done by the organisation. The OSHA will also build an approach road during the construction keeping in view the traffic congestion. The OSHA will appoint one Chairman and four full-time members. One finance member, safety and technology member, Works, contract and operation member and one consultation and partnership member will be present. Along with them six part time members will also be appointed. The appointments will be done by the search and selection committee of the state government.
