Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a ‘Yellow’ warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40–50 kmph, which are very likely to occur in various parts of Odisha districts until April 18. According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha on April 13. The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40–50 kmph, very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur. On April 14, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada, and at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha. The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30–40 kmph, very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar. On April 15 and 16, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha. The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40–50 kmph, very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh. Heavy rainfall is also very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30–40 kmph are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur. On April 17, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at many places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Dry weather is expected over the rest of the districts of Odisha. The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40–50 kmph, likely to occur in the above-mentioned districts. On April 18 and 19, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, and Deogarh. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha. No significant change in maximum temperature (daytime temperature) is expected during the next 3 days. However, a fall of 2–3°C is likely thereafter over the districts of Odisha.
