Doctor Gallowitz says, “Curcumin, the active ingredient of turmeric, has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties.” According to a study published in 2016 in Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, patients with allergic rhinitis who had consumed curcumin showed significant improvement in their immune response and nasal airflow. Lycopene found in tomatoes is an antioxidant compound that reduces inflammation. Tomato juice contains 85 percent more lycopene than melon and pink grapefruit. According to research from the US National Library of Medicine, lycopene improves the lungs of asthma patients.
