Barang: A long python snake was rescued in the Barang area of Cuttack district in Odisha yesterday night. The python was rescued from the roadside in front of the OMFED plant in the Arilo area of Barang’s Bidyadharpur. According to reports, at about 8:30 pm on Thursday, a huge python was spotted by locals as it was crossing the road. Frightened, they informed the snake helpline and the Forest Department to catch the snake. After receiving the information, Snake Helpline members Raju Nayak, Manoj Bastia, and Ranjan Pal reached the spot and rescued the snake. Upon measurement, the python was found to be about 8 to 10 feet long. Later, the rescuers safely took the snake away and released it into its natural habitat in a secluded area of another forest. The python had reportedly been roaming the area for some time, causing fear among the locals.
