Bhubaneswar: Two teachers of Belpada Primary School under Gania block have been suspended following the death of a Class V student, whose body was recovered from an open well in Belpada village under Gania block in Nayagarh district on Wednesday.In response, Gania Block Education Officer (BEO) Lipsa Nanda said the headmistress and a female teacher who were present at the school onTuesday were suspended after the incident.“After receiving the information, our Block Resource Centre Coordinator (BRCC) immediately conducted a field visit. Today, after learning the sad news, the District Education Officer, BRCC, CRCC, and I visited the site. Currently, one teacher remains in charge, and another will be assigned after a temporary adjustment,” Nanda said.The deceased has been identified as Bijay Mallick. According to reports, Bijay left the school on Tuesday afternoon after having his mid-day meal around 1 pm to relieve himself but did not return home. When he failed to return, villagers joined the search and filed a missing person complaint at Gania Police Station. On Wednesday morning, the student’s body was found in an open well near the village.Following the discovery, villagers staged a protest by blocking the Kantilo-Daspalla road, alleging foul play. In response, the Gania Police Station IIC and Khandapada SDPO visited the site and initiated inquiries.
