New Delhi, 22/1 (Ao Bureau): Due to the ill-health of the interim president of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, the search for the new president of the party is nearing completion. Party leader KC Venugopal has informed that the Central Election Authority has agreed to hold the organization elections in May, but all the members together authorized Sonia Gandhi to decide when the elections will be held. He said that by June 2021, the newly elected Congress President will be found. This decision has been taken in the meeting of the Congress Working Committee.
Many senior leaders demanded fulltime Congress president
Significantly, due to Rahul Gandhi’s reluctance to become the president and the health of Sonia Gandhi, the search for a new president in the party is going on. Earlier, many senior Congress leaders had written letters demanding full-time president for the organization. Sonia Gandhi was made the interim president after Rahul Gandhi’s resignation after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Since then, she is the only one looking after the party. But now there has been a demand within the party for a new president.
