New Delhi, 12/2 (AO Bureau): Mallikarjun Kharge, a senior party leader and leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, has been named Leader of the Opposition after the term of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Giving this information, General Secretary of the organization Venugopal said that the Congress has informed Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu about the fact that after Azad’s retirement, Kharge has been nominated by the party. That means Kharge will be the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
Earlier. Anand Sharma, the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha also wanted him to be made the Leader of the Opposition. But recently, after a letter written to Sonia Gandhi raising many questions about the organization, the party leadership did not seem very enthusiastic about giving them this responsibility. Along with this, Mallikarjun Kharge is considered very close to Rahul Gandhi. He was given a chance in the Rajya Sabha by the party despite the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
