Chennai, 12/2 (AO Bureau): Shahbaz Nadeem and Rahul Chahar were added to the Indian Test team after the all-rounder Axar Patel was ruled out of the first Test match against England due to a knee injury. This all-rounder from Gujarat is now fully recovered and is available for the second Test (India vs England) to be played in Chennai from 13 February. The BCCI issued a press release saying, “Axar Patel is completely fine now and is available for selection for the second Test match to be played against England from Saturday”.
Axar Patel, who played 38 ODIs and 11 T20s for India, is all set for his Test debut in the second match. He will replace Shahbaz Nadeem in the Indian playing XI. India preferred Nadeem over left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, as captain Virat Kohli wanted. On choosing Nadeem, Virat Kohli said, “If there were two off-spinners in the playing eleven in the team, Kuldeep also spins something like that and takes the ball out.”
