Mumbai, 13/5 (AO Bureau): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the appointment of Ramesh Powar as the head coach of the Indian women’s cricket team. The BCCI had received more than 35 applications for this post. The three-member Cricket Advisory Committee of Sulakshana Naik, Madan Lal and Rudra Pratap Singh interviewed the applicants and unanimously agreed to Pawar’s candidature.
Pawar, who played two Tests and 31 ODIs for India, was earlier the head coach of the women’s cricket team from July 2018 to November 2018. Under him, the Indian team entered the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2018 and also won 14 consecutive T20 International matches.
